Governor Anandiiben Patel Chairs Review Meeting with Principals of Colleges Affiliated to Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur

Focus on Quality, Excellence, and Student-Centric Higher Education

Lucknow: Under the leadership of Governor and Chancellor of State Universities, Anandiiben Patel, a comprehensive review meeting was held at Janbhawan, bringing together principals of government and aided colleges affiliated with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. The meeting aimed to evaluate and strengthen the quality of higher education, promote excellence, and review preparations for NAAC accreditation and NIRF ranking.

During the session, principals presented detailed reports from their respective institutions. Addressing the gathering, Governor Patel emphasized the need to increase student enrollment through targeted campaigns, encouraging principals and faculty to engage directly with students and parents in villages and inter-colleges to highlight the value of higher education.

She also directed the prompt filling of vacant teaching positions and suggested that online classes be facilitated where faculty shortages exist to ensure uninterrupted learning. Furthermore, she recommended redistributing faculty from colleges with excess staff to those with high student strength to optimize teaching resources.

Governor Patel highlighted the importance of holistic student development and employable education, urging colleges to maintain timely academic schedules, ensure on-time declaration of examination results, and conduct convocation ceremonies by June-July. She called for strict adherence to timetables, regular academic sessions, and timely completion of practical exams.

Sharing insights from her personal experiences, Governor Patel encouraged faculty to instill discipline, moral values, and cultural awareness among students. She also stressed student participation in co-curricular activities such as educational tours, tree plantation drives, debates, drama, and sports programs like ‘Khelo India’, to cultivate leadership and social responsibility.

She further guided colleges to leverage CSR initiatives and alumni support to enhance resources and infrastructure, including laboratories, libraries, and campus facilities.

Director General of Higher Education, Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, lauded the Governor’s efforts, stating that her continuous guidance and proactive measures are helping Uttar Pradesh become a leader in higher education. He assured that all college-related issues would be addressed through on-site inspections and timely interventions, further strengthening academic quality and institutional performance in NAAC and NIRF evaluations.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Pankaj L. Johny, Special Secretary of Education, Shriprakash Gupta, Special Secretary of Janbhawan, Girijesh Kumar Tyagi, Special Secretary of Higher Education, Prof. Vinay Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, along with principals, university officials, and staff.

Governor Patel concluded by stressing that continuous efforts, effective leadership, and a commitment to excellence are key to achieving transformative outcomes in higher education.
